Light leaves a room after the body moves on.

Afterimage is a live composition for projected text, low-frequency sound, and eight deliberately different ways of watching.

The work

A performance assembled from what remains.

Fragments of speech travel through a field of suspended screens. Each phrase brightens, breaks apart, and returns elsewhere as a rhythm rather than an instruction.

The audience is distributed around the room instead of facing one stage. Every viewing place carries its own balance of proximity, sound, movement, and quiet.

Participating artists

Three practices, one changing room.

Iria Vale, Niko Arendt, and Mara Osei combine spatial light, live electronics, voice, and movement in one changing room.

    Builds choreographies from projected language, reflection, and the architecture already present in a room.

  2. Niko Arendt

    Composition and live electronics

    Works with tactile bass, close-miked objects, and silence as a material that redirects attention.

  3. Mara Osei

    Voice and movement

    Creates performances in which spoken fragments shift between testimony, score, and spatial cue.

Evening sequence

Arrive before the light changes.

  1. Doors and orientation

    The room remains softly lit while hosts describe routes, viewing places, and access options.

  2. Quiet transition

    Movement through the central field pauses and visitors settle into their selected places.

  3. Afterimage

    The live performance runs for approximately one hundred minutes without an interval.

  4. Room in residual light

    Visitors may remain for fifteen minutes as the installation returns to a low, static state.

Access

Choose a place by more than its view.

The step-free entrance and accessible toilet are on the east side of the hall. Every place description states its route, seating, sound, and sightline conditions.

  • A text transcript and a plain-language sequence note are available at entry.
  • The performance uses bright projection changes and sustained low-frequency sound, but no strobe effect.
  • Two places provide step-free, companion-friendly positioning; a low-stimulus threshold place remains close to the exit.
